Christmas in New Yorkโ๏ธ๐

153.6 lbs (from 152.5 lbs on Oct 26) | ๐๐ป Done (7/6)
Hit the gym, kept reading the paper I will present, and rested well. I finished almost all the prep for the New York trip. I think I can travel with a single carry-on. The forecast says it will be very cold. People say it is still milder than winter in Korea, but I barely remember how cold that felt, so I will dress warmly just in case!

It poured in the morning, but I still went to the gym๐ช New York is supposed to have nice weather right now, while San Francisco will stay rainy, so I would say timing is very good. The qualifying exam feels much closer, so I am trying to finish what I can as quickly as possible. Because I am pushing several tracks forward at once, I feel uneasy that nothing looks fully complete. I want to wrap up loose ends by January, focus on one direction, bring preliminary data, and defend Aim 1 or Aim 2 with a more data-based, tighter argument. After work, I got a year-end summary from ChatGPT, which is somewhat encouraging๐

Hit the gym, wrapped up yesterday’s experiment, and did final trip prep. I spent the day studying protein design and organizing notes. After the trip, I expect to have the final candidates for testing within a few days. The bigger issue still is exactly how to test them. Looking back over my notes, I tried so many directions… Sometimes I feel down thinking that if I had stayed with what I was already good at, I would have a lot more data by now. But I chose this path and it made me happy, so I do not want to deny that version of myself. I will work hard so that my choice becomes the better one๐ซก
